Signs Your Teen Needs Treatment

As a parent, it’s important to be aware of signs that may indicate your teen needs mental health treatment. If you notice:

  • Persistent sadness
  • Withdrawal from friends and activities
  • Decline in academic performance
  • Heightened irritability
  • Changes in sleep patterns
  • Expressing thoughts of self-harm

These could be red flags. Trust your instincts as a parent—if something feels off, seeking professional guidance is crucial. Do not wait for things to worsen to get your child the support they need.

Benefits of Evidence-Based Therapy

Evidence-based therapies use approaches that have been proven effective through scientific research. Your goals drive the design of your treatment, so you can trust that the skills you are gaining are actually relevant to the life you want to build for yourself.

Using evidence-based treatments, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), ensures that the methods used by therapists are not just based on theories but are backed by solid evidence so that your mental health care is never left up to chance.

Some additional benefits include:

Lasting Results

Studies have shown that these therapy treatments lead to longer-lasting results and empower you with effective coping skills.

Highest Quality Treatment

Our licensed clinical staff is trained in therapy treatments that are proven to be effective, which means they can provide you with the best care possible.

Clinically Effective & Cost Effective

Since these kinds of treatments are scientifically proven to be effective, the chances of relapse are less likely. This means you’ll be able to save more money in the long run.

More Accountability for Therapists

EBT requires specialized training in the different kinds of therapies, which means you are guaranteed qualified, verified therapists are in charge of your care.

Learning Through Fun and Experiential Treatment

our teen might not want to sit on a couch and talk to a stranger holding a clipboard all day, and that is fine with us!

While talk therapy, such as dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), can help your teenager to discover and address their internal struggles, research shows that it is essential for them to get up and moving in order to heal.

We believe teens are wired to learn through fun and exploration. Our programs include various experiential therapies such as art therapy, yoga, physical activities, and outdoor adventures to help teens become their happiest, healthiest selves.

The mental health program may be appropriate for a teen who is using substances to cope with their mental health issues. If substance abuse continues to be the primary issue being addressed, then a substance use program may be the correct care and a referral will be made.

At Sandstone Care, our mental health program for teens stands out because it’s specifically tailored to their age group. Recognizing the unique needs and experiences of teenagers, our age-specific approach ensures that the support and interventions provided are relevant and effective for this stage of life.

This specificity is crucial because it allows us to address the developmental, emotional, and social aspects that are distinct to adolescents. By focusing on the particular challenges faced by teens, we create an environment that resonates with them. This helps them to improve their self-esteem and find alternatives to any behavioral issues they are experiencing.

Family plays a vital role in adolescent treatment. Individual family therapy sessions are offered bi-weekly to examine the role the family plays in creating new patterns of behavior.

In order for your teen to recover from their mental illness, they need a mental health treatment program that changes their environment, not just their symptoms.

Connection is key in recovery. Our program also utilizes weekly multi-family group to reinforce new skills being learned in groups, as well as a source of support and guidance.

You can begin the process of entering your child into our teen treatment centers by calling our admissions department at (888)-850-1890.

Care is provided by a treatment team of adolescent mental health professionals who collaborate with each client to reach their goals. Every treatment facility has a team that consists of licensed clinicians, medical providers, and a teacher.
