The Towson Mental Health Center is in a spacious building with private rooms for individual therapy, group therapy, and academic/vocational learning.

Our mental health program includes 12 hours per week of intensive outpatient treatment for 8 – 12 weeks.

The treatment program is led by licensed professionals who use various types of evidence-based therapies to help clients identify and learn to cope with anxiety, depression, and trauma.

We also have a substance use and dual diagnosis rehab center within the same building.

Age-Specific Care
We are age-specific, not gender-specific. We focus on the unique circumstances that teens and young adults face.
Evidence-Based Therapy
We only use treatment interventions that have been scientifically proven to provide consistent, lasting recovery.
Small Group Sizes
You are not a number, that’s why we provide a comfortable setting where your voice can be heard.
Individualized Treatment Plans
No one person is the same, and neither is their recovery journey. Your treatment program will be tailored to your unique needs.
Academic and Vocational Support
We want clients to get the most out of life, which means doing their best in the classroom or at their job.
The Family Component
Recovery involves the entire family, so we provide support for the whole family system.

Medication management can be an important part of the treatment process. If medication is recommended, our medication provider will see the client on a regular basis until an ongoing provider is established. If a client has an outside provider and they would like to continue to guide their medication during Sandstone IOP, a release will be required to ensure integrated care.

Beyond Broomfield Counties, our outpatient mental health services are offered in Colorado, Maryland, Virginia, & Illinois. Click a location to learn more about the staff and schedule.

Yes! Please contact our admissions team to complete an Insurance Verification to see if we accept your health insurance. Please note that we do not accept Medicare or Medicaid.

The mental health program may be appropriate for young adults who are using substances to cope with their mental health issues. Many teens struggle with substance use and mental health issues simultaneously. If substance abuse continues to be the primary issue being addressed, then an addiction recovery program may be the correct care and a referral will be made.

Our young adult (18-30), Mental Health IOP is a comprehensive, collaborative outpatient program that meets 4 times a week for 3 hours a day. Our outpatient rehab for depression, anxiety, and other conditions provides thorough support. Our intimate, small groups focus on a well-balanced recovery, peer support utilizing weekly multifamily group, academic/vocation “adulting” skill building 2 times weekly; specialized group therapy led by licensed clinicians and medical providers who are available to meet participants for medication management, psychiatric services, and weekly evaluations with each clinician. Clinical groups are a combination of skills-based programs emphasizing the use of DBT groups and CBT, and person-centered process groups for individuals experiencing mental health problems such as depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, and previous trauma.

Family plays a vital role in the overall wellness of each individual served. Individual family sessions are offered bi-weekly to examine the family’s role in creating new patterns of behavior and changing old behavior that reinforced negative behaviors. Connection is key in recovery. The family is taken into heavy consideration throughout our case management process. We also ensure that family members are informed of all available crisis services. Our program also utilizes weekly multi-family groups to reinforce new skills being learned in groups and as a source of support and guidance.

The young adult mental health program runs from 9am-12pm on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday of each week. During that time the program focuses on providing therapy and behavioral health services. In addition, the program provides 2 hours of academic and vocational work per week, on Tuesday and Thursday from 1-2pm. We take special note of any learning disabilities or other special circumstances that need to be taken into account during our academic and vocational assistance.

You can begin the process by calling our admissions department at 202-804-8468. If you or a loved one are experiencing an emergency mental health crisis, please call the suicide prevention crisis line at 988.

Our care team is an integrated team of professionals and mental health partners who collaborate with each client to reach their goals using evidence-based treatment and community resources. They will also coordinate with your primary care doctor to ensure the proper treatment plan is selected. Our team consists of licensed clinicians, medical providers, and a teacher.

No, our facility operates strictly by appointment. However, providing support to individuals seeking treatment for themselves or their loved ones is our top priority.
