Age-Specific Care

We are age-specific, not gender-specific. We focus on the unique circumstances that teens and young adults face.

Evidence-Based Therapy

We only use treatment interventions that have been scientifically proven to provide consistent, lasting recovery.

Small Group Sizes

You are not a number, that’s why we provide a comfortable setting where your voice can be heard.

Individualized Treatment Plans

No one person is the same, and neither is their recovery journey. Your treatment program will be tailored to your unique needs.

Academic and Vocational Support

We want clients to get the most out of life, which means doing their best in the classroom or at their job.

The Family Component

Recovery involves the entire family, so we provide support for the whole family system.

Maryland Substance Use Disorder Treatment Options

Marijuana Treatment

Marijuana has become a way to self-medicate for underlying issues and it’s easy to become dependent on its use.

Alcohol Treatment

Studies have found that binge drinking & heavy alcohol use are problematic for young people.

Opioid Treatment

Opioid misuse occurs when a person uses heroin or misuses prescription pain relievers like hydrocodone, oxycodone, and morphine.

Stimulant Treatment

Commonly abused stimulants include cocaine, methamphetamines, and prescription stimulants, like Ritalin, Adderall, and Concerta.

Questions about rehab centers and care

Our goal is to provide the most helpful information. Please reach out to us if you have any additional questions. We are here to help any way we can.

Yes. We have a teen track, which is for teens ages 13-17, and a young adult track for individuals ages 18-30.

Our young adult intensive outpatient program offers up to 17 hours per week of clinical services including group therapy, individual therapy, family therapy sessions, academic and vocational support, and community activities.

The teens and young adults at Sandstone Care are bright and creative spirits who have been impacted by a variety of mental health issues. Typically, they are struggling with, or have experienced, anxiety, depression, trauma, and/or substance use. Individuals with a history of violence, are actively suicidal or psychotic, that have severe and persistent mental illness such as schizophrenia, or that exhibit behavioral issues that would disrupt the treatment milieu are not appropriate for Sandstone Care. Each client is carefully screened by the admissions team and the Program Director, and if needed, the Executive Clinical Director and Medical Director for appropriateness.

Our after school teen IOP offers up to 17 hours per week of clinical services including group therapy, individual therapy, family therapy sessions, academic and vocational support, and community activities.

Treatment for adolescents requires a very different approach from treating adults. Adolescents have specific mental health and developmental issues which require specialized, age-specific programming to effectively address these issues.

Realizing that you need help is a big step, but coming to that conclusion may take some time. There are several signs that getting help is necessary, such as struggling with mental health issues like depression or anxiety. Some other signs may include:

Trying, and failing, to quit using on your own
Drug or alcohol use has become your first priority
Having difficulty maintaining relationships with friends and family
Abandoning school, work, or social activities in favor of substance use
Engaging in risky behaviors or acts of self-harm
Experiencing withdrawal symptoms when not using
Consistently using drugs or alcohol regardless of negative consequences or problems caused by substance use

Sandstone Care works with teens and young adults who are struggling with substance use, co-occurring mental health disorders, and mental health primary needs through our Center for Depression, Trauma and Anxiety.

Yes! We offer a few different options for teens and young adults who are in need of a higher level of care.

  • Our Medical Assisted Detox and Inpatient Assessment program takes place at our Colorado Springs Detox Center and was created for individuals above the age of 18 who are attempting to detox off of drugs or alcohol. The program is led by a highly trained and qualified team of doctors, nurses, psychologists, and licensed therapists. The facility offers private rooms and 24/7 medically supervised care to support a safe and comfortable stabilization. Following medical stabilization, clients are invited to engage in a comprehensive treatment program that addresses physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual needs. The program includes Individual and group therapy along with full medical, psychiatric, and psychological assessments.
  • Cascade Canyon Teen Residential is a 30-60 day treatment program for teens ages 13-17 who are struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, post-traumatic stress, mood and personality disorders, bipolar, and substance abuse. The house is nestled in the rocky mountains in Cascade, Colorado, and houses 8-10 teens at a time. Teens in this program participate in a daily routine that involves academic services, individual therapy, family therapy, relapse prevention, wilderness and experiential therapy, and group therapy.
  • Therapeutic Sober Living is available for young adults in our day treatment and intensive outpatient programs. Our therapeutic sober living homes are gender-specific and staffed 24/7 by addiction and mental health professionals. These houses provide stability, structure, and support during the early stages of recovery.
