Everything You Think You Know about Addiction Is Wrong…

Updated 30 August 2015 Written by Deborah Quinn

What a great TED Talk by Johnann Hari, who has spent the last 3 years conducting research around the world trying to answer the core questions around addiction.  His findings are progressive and challenge the current line of thinking as to what causes addiction and the best ways to combat it.

His findings suggesting that addiction is actually caused by your environment and that to successfully combat it, we need to establish real connections with addicts to help rebuild their communities and bonds really resonates with the work we do here at Sandstone Care.

The video from his Ted Talk and a brief synopsis can be found below. Please enjoy!

About Sandstone Care

Sandstone Care is a treatment program for young adults and adolescents struggling with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders.

We have locations in Colorado and Maryland. We offer a full continuum of outpatient care including Medical Detox, Teen Residential, Extended Residential for Young Adults,  Day Treatment, Intensive Outpatient, and General Outpatient Programs for young adults (ages 18-30) and adolescents & troubled teens (ages 13-18).

Sandstone Care believes that successful outcomes are achieved through a systemic, evidence-based approach that addresses the entire individual as well as their environment – this means providing academic & vocational support to help individuals achieve their goals and discover their strengths, family participation to educate and support the entire family system, psychiatric and dietitian evaluations and support to promote a healthy mind and body, as well as community-based activities along with the more traditional evidence-based group and individual therapy.

If you or a loved one needs additional support, call our confidential line, at (888) 850-1890 and our admissions team will be able to answer any questions as well as guide you and your loved ones toward the path of long-lasting recovery. For more information, visit sandstonecare.com.
