Melissa Ament, LPCC

MH YA PHP Therapist

Melissa Ament is a dedicated Young Adult Mental Health PHP Therapist at Interlocken, bringing a compassionate and insightful approach to mental health and addiction counseling. With a BA in Sociology and Social Welfare from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an MA in Counseling Psychology from the University of Denver, Melissa is deeply committed to her field. She is actively pursuing her License in Addiction Counseling (LAC) and currently holds a certification as a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate (LPCC).

Melissa’s therapeutic style is grounded in person-centered, humanistic, existential, and strengths-based approaches. She specializes in assisting clients through grief and loss, working with the forensic population, and supporting young adults. Melissa is passionate about seeing her clients learn to advocate for themselves and establish healthy boundaries. She emphasizes a non-judgmental, strengths-based perspective, focusing on asking tough questions that enable individuals to discover their own answers and purpose.

One aspect of her work that Melissa finds particularly rewarding is the opportunity to accompany individuals through some of their most challenging times. Her aim is not to fix but to witness her clients in their full humanity, helping to alleviate the sense of isolation that can accompany mental health struggles.

Outside of her professional role, Melissa enjoys cooking, hosting gatherings, taking leisurely walks, and indulging in anything related to music. These activities not only provide a creative outlet but also reflect her belief in the importance of connection and community.
