A native of Colorado, Dr. Robert Ochsner completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Colorado, Boulder and graduated Magna Cum Laude in Environmental, Population, and Organismic (EPO) Biology with a minor in Biochemistry.

Dr. Ochsner received a Health Professions Scholarship through the United States Air Force and graduated medical school from the University of Colorado School of Medicine in 2007. He completed his family medicine residency at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida in 2010. After completing residency, Dr. Ochsner spent the next several years on tours to Yokota Air Base in Japan and Buckley Air Force Base in Colorado, where he cared for active duty military members, their dependents and retirees.

After separating from active duty, Dr. Ochsner joined Kaiser Permanente and worked traditional outpatient family medicine for 18 months. Looking for a career change, Dr. Ochsner joined Recovery Village at Palmer Lake, an inpatient substance use rehabilitation facility, and had worked exclusively in addiction medicine since February 2016. He moved up the ranks at Recovery Village serving as medical director for nearly 3 years. Dr. Ochsner was presented with the opportunity for further career growth and professional development and thus joined Sandstone Care as Chief Medical Officer in October 2020.

Dr. Ochsner is board certified in Family Medicine and Addiction Medicine.
