Individual therapy

After our comprehensive assessment, we develop an individualized treatment plan to meet each client’s needs for real wellness. In our in-person therapy sessions, therapists rely on our clinical framework to help each client discover their own values and beliefs, strengths, and passions.

Icon Hands Heart
Family therapy

Family is included in each step of your teen’s recovery, so your teen can build stronger and healthier relationships. In family systems therapy, your therapist’s job is to help family members recognize the roles they play in each other’s lives.

Icon Chat Heart
Group therapy

In group therapy, your teen will interact with people their own age who are experiencing the same struggles they are. Your child will build healthy friendships and see firsthand that they are not alone and that they’re are not the only person who has struggled with mental health and substance use conditions.

Icon Dual Diagnosis
Dual diagnosis

When an individual is struggling with both a mental health disorder and a substance use disorder, the two conditions are referred to as “co-occurring disorders,” or “dual diagnoses.” At Sandstone Care, we understand the importance of treating a person holistically, which means addressing co-occurring disorders concurrently with addiction.

Academic & vocational

We require that all teens participate in academic and vocational programs while receiving addiction treatment and/or mental health services. This ensures teens don’t fall behind in school or work during treatment. We employ credentialed teachers to guide teens through their coursework, set college and career goals, and foster the skills necessary for independent living.

Medication management

Medication management involves diagnosing, treating, and preventing substance use and mental health conditions. Every teen is unique and requires a customized treatment program. Our clinical staff helps you become an expert in managing your treatment and medication. While not every individual needs medication, we help prepare and educate those who do.

Benefits of Evidence-Based Therapy

Evidence-based therapies (EBTs) use treatment modalities that have been proven effective through scientific research. You can trust that the skills your teen gains at Sandstone are actually usable and relevant to their lives.

EBTs like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) provide real, life-changing results that can get your teen’s life back on track.

Some additional benefits include:

Lasting Results

The American Psychological Association created the policies for EBTs using the best research available. Studies have shown that these therapy treatments lead to longer-lasting results.

Cost Effective

Since these kinds of treatments are scientifically proven to be more effective, the chances of relapse are less likely, which means less money spent on future treatments.

More Accountability for Therapists

EBTs require specialized training in the different kinds of therapies, which means you are guaranteed qualified, verified therapists are in charge of your care.

Clinically Effective

EBTs are safe and proven treatments, so you can feel confident that your teen’s mental health and recovery are not left up to chance.

Heal with Our Unique Framework

Our therapists rely on these five pillars of healthy living to identify any areas within your teen’s skillset that could use some extra attention. By improving these areas, recovery can be holistic and easily sustained in the long term.

Tools like these will help guide your teen through the substance use treatment or mental health care process. They’ll be able to recognize their strengths, and improve any areas that might be holding them back in their recovery journey.

The goal is to get your teen to that pivotal breakthrough moment – the game-changer that sets the stage for a recovery that lasts.

Dual Diagnosis Treatment

If your child is struggling with substance use, they might also be dealing with mental health concerns; these two health problems often go hand-in-hand.

At Sandstone Care, our psychiatry assessments will determine if your child is showing sings of underlying mental health issues that need to be addressed alongside addiction treatment.

When we can address the root of behavioral problems like substance misuse, we reduce the chance of relapse and set the stage for long-term recovery.

FAQs

You Have Questions. We Have Answers.

Don’t see your question among our frequently asked questions below?

Reach out to our team at (888) 850-1890! We are here to help in any way we can.

Yes, we accept private insurance plans. You don’t have to pay out-of-pocket for your teen’s health — complete an Insurance Verification to see if your insurance coverage is accepted with us.

Yes. We have a teen track, which is for adolescents ages 13-17, and a young adult track for individuals ages 18-30.

Our programs are age-based because we recognize that different stages of life come with specific issues. The teenage years often come with things like peer pressure, academic struggles, and familial relationship challenges, so our teen track pays special attention to these.

Each individual’s treatment team consists of six experts who specialize in teen trauma and mental health disorders. These include our Program Director, Family Therapist, Primary Therapist, Psychiatrist, Teacher, and Medical Director (supported by our Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner).

Each treatment center’s page on our website features a clinical team section. There you can see who is treating your child, find their names, and read their bios. You might see letters next to each clinician’s name, including LPC, LAC, LMFT, LMHC, and LCSW. Each of these distinguish their areas of expertise.

The teens at Sandstone Care are bright and creative spirits who have been impacted by mental health issues. Typically, they are struggling with or have experienced anxiety, depression, trauma, and/or substance use.

It’s important to note that teens with a history of violence, teens that are actively suicidal or psychotic, teens that have a severe and persistent mental illness such as schizophrenia, or teens that exhibit behavioral issues that would disrupt the treatment milieu are not appropriate for Sandstone Care.

Each teen is carefully screened by the admissions team and the Program Director, and if needed, the Executive Clinical Director and Medical Director to ensure the safety of everyone in treatment.

The amount of treatment needed varies greatly and depends on one’s individual circumstances. At Sandstone Care, we believe in treating our clients as a whole person instead of just treating their substance use disorder or mental health disorders in isolation. Our program is individualized to meet those specific needs and as such length of stay may vary. Navigate to one of our specific teen treatment programs to see the standard timeline for each.

Yes, we understand that many people who abuse drugs and alcohol also suffer from depression, anxiety, etc. So, we have a psychiatrist on staff who can diagnose co-occurring disorders and help address the underlying issues that might be causing them to use substances as unhealthy coping skills.
