Drug & Alcohol Rehab for Teens & Young Adults in Colorado
The state of Colorado features a variety of gorgeous and amazing things. Snow-capped mountains, dense forests, and beautiful blue skies are all things you can look forward to if you’re visiting or living in Colorful Colorado. Despite the beauty that this state has to offer, Colorado also faces a severe drug and alcohol abuse problem. In rural areas it can be especially difficult to find the treatment you or a loved one needs. Sandstone Care offers program options that provides living options while receiving treatment.
In 2015, over 35,000 residents of the state of Colorado sought treatment for alcohol dependence, with another 51,000 seeking treatment for other substance use disorders. According to a study conducted by the Colorado Health Institute, the overdose rates in Colorado have risen in every single county in the state, and doubled in Arapahoe county.
Statistics like these can be difficult to read, but despite the disheartening information above, Colorado offers many therapeutic and community resources for those struggling with substance abuse, as well as their families.
What to look for when choosing a drug and alcohol rehab in Colorado
Making the decision to seek out substance abuse services is a big step – but choosing a treatment center can be an overwhelming and difficult process. At Sandstone Care, we believe that treatment must be individualized in order to best meet the needs of our clients and set them up for success.
Some things to look for when seeking out a treatment center include:
- Licensing & Accreditation
In the state of Colorado, treatment programs are licensed by the Office of Behavioral Health (OBH), and accredited by the Joint Commission. The Joint Commission is an independent organization that bases accreditation on the ability to demonstrate quality, results, and value. The Office of Behavioral Health is a state-run organization that provides licensing to agencies that office treatment for substance use disorders. Organizations that have a license from OBH must undergo regular inspections and follow the rules and guidelines laid out in the Code of Colorado Regulations. Sandstone Care is a licensed and accredited substance use care provider.
- Treatment of Co-occurring Disorders
Many people who struggle with drug and alcohol addiction also have a co-occurring mental health disorder like depression or anxiety. For clients who have a co-occurring disorder, or dual diagnoses, it is important that the treatment provided addresses the person as a whole.
- Qualified & Credentialed Treatment Team
There are nationally recognized standards for professionals who provide care for people with substance use disorders. It’s important that the treatment program you choose has a multidisciplinary team that has the proper credentials, so that quality care can be provided
- Medical Doctor
- Nursing Staff
- Addiction Counselor
- Use of Evidence-Based Practices
Evidence-Based Practices are therapeutic modalities that have been proven to work through scientific research. Some of these practices are utilized by Sandstone Care, and include:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
- Dialectical Behavioral Therapy
- Acceptance & Commitment Therapy
- Experiential Therapy
- Family Systems Therapy
- Medical Detox
Medical detox can be provided in a hospital setting before entering a treatment program, but it is preferable to seek services in a facility that specializes in detox. Sandstone Care’s Colorado Springs Detox Center and Virginia Detox Center are staffed by registered nurses, behavioral health technicians, certified addiction counselors, a therapist, and a psychiatrist. By completing detox in a facility that has trained mental health staff on-site, our clients have 24/7 support and are able to start the rehabilitation process while finishing their detox.
- Length of Program
Every treatment center differs with the length of their programs, but it’s good to have an estimate of how long a program is before making a commitment. At Sandstone Care, we treat our clients individually, assessing their needs day by day. Because of this, we cannot give a definitive answer about how long someone will be in our program. We can, however, conduct an in-person assessment and estimate how long would be best for you to stay, and what level of care would be the most beneficial for you.
