Young Adult Intensive Outpatient Treatment

Authored by Kaitlyn Mercy

Our Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program, often shortened to IOP, helps young adults start to understand their substance abuse and mental health struggles so they are able to successfully overcome them.

Our Program

The goal of our comprehensive IOP program is to address substance use and addiction along with any underlying co-occurring mental health concerns such as anxiety and depression and begin developing good social and vocational habits. We also strive to help these young people become more like the person they want to be, without using substances to get there.

This is a longer term program lasting 8-12 weeks. Each client also receives individual support in addition to that shown above through bi-weekly sessions with the licensed senior clinician and bi-weekly sessions with the primary family therapist. In addition to our in-person IOP program, we offer it as an online program.

Our Virtual IOP program offers the same programming, all online. Ideal for those who live too far to drive in, have transportation issues, or health concerns that make in-person treatment challenging. All sessions take place live with master's level therapists providing therapy.

Our 8 week curriculum covers the following topics:

  • Self-Value/Discovery/Awareness
  • 3 States of Mind: Emotional, Rational, Wise
  • Emotional Regulation/Management
  • Introduction to the Brain
  • Trauma Education
  • Family
  • Community
  • Relapse Prevention Planning

Above and beyond our group and individual therapy sessions, we offer full wrap-around services:

  • Psychiatric Consultations
  • Medication Management
  • Multi-Family Group Therapy
  • Academic Support
  • Vocational Training
  • Family Therapy

The Schedule

Academic or vocational individual sessions begin at 5:00 pm. Group begins at 7:00 pm and includes two clinicians. Multi-family group therapy is on Wednesdays, where each client and their parents are all in group together. The focus of this group is to improve communication and build relationships. Our psychiatric staff is available on Mondays and Fridays for medication consultation.
