Admissions Process

The Sandstone Care Admissions Process: What to Expect?

Ready to take the first step toward a healthy future for you and your family? Our compassionate and knowledgeable team will support you every step of the way. Here is what you can expect from the admissions process:

Free Confidential Phone Consultation

Whether you are ready to enroll or simply curious about whether you or your loved one might have a problem, your first step is a phone call to our friendly and helpful admissions team. They can help determine whether Sandstone Care could be a good fit. If not, we will help connect you with other programs or resources that are.

Verification of Insurance Benefits

Even before doing an evaluation, we will contact your insurance company and give you a sense of what they are likely to cover, including the initial evaluation. No one likes a surprise when it comes to insurance coverage and billing.

Comprehensive Mental Health and Substance Use Evaluation by a Licensed Clinician

Clients and their families participate in an approximately 90 minute long comprehensive assessment to explore severity of substance use as well as mental health, family dynamics, and strengths and challenges of the individual. Following this evaluation, our intake coordinator will make a recommendation for level of care – outpatient, intensive outpatient, day treatment or inpatient. If it is determined that a client is not a good fit for Sandstone Care (i.e. needs inpatient care to begin with), our team will make sure you find a program that can help.

Psychiatric Evaluation

After admitting to the program, all clients admitting to either PHP (Day Treatment) or IOP levels of care will do a further psychiatric assessment with either our medical director, Dr. Mary Braud, or our staff psychiatrist, Dr. Arshad William. Dr. Braud will also be available for weekly medication management as needed for the duration of the program.
